Matt Fregon was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 2018, as the State Labor Member for the Mount Waverley District. Matt now holds the position of the Deputy Government Whip in the Legislative Assembly.
Matt was born and raised in Melbourne’s east. He grew up in his Dad’s Ferntree Gully pharmacy, where he learnt the value of community and giving back. After graduating from his local public high school, he went on to study a Bachelor of Business at Deakin University. He moved to Mount Waverley with his wife, Rebecca, and daughter in 2010, and has proudly continue to raise his family in our wonderful community.
For Matt’s family, education is deeply valued - Matt’s mother was a teacher, his wife is a teacher, and her mother was a much-loved teacher at the local Glen Waverley Secondary College. Since moving to Mount Waverley, Matt has been involved in several local community groups, and he is passionate about advocating for our local community groups and their fantastic volunteers.
Matt is a passionate advocate for the mental health awareness, family violence, education and encouraging local connections. He hopes to continue his service to our community in the seat of Ashwood after the 2022 November state election
